Last night the Tampa Bay Rays became the fourth team to be eliminated in the 2010 post-season. The Rays were defeated in 5 games by the AL West Champions, the Texas Rangers. The Rays had finished this season as the AL East Champions, with the best record in the American League at 96-66 (.593). The Rays are historically a bad team, but recently have improved a great deal. Since starting in 1998, the franchise has a losing record of 922 wins and 1,181 losses. The Rays been to the playoffs twice and won the American League pennant in 2008 (after which they were beaten in the World Series by the Phillies in 5 games). After 10 consecutive losing seasons as the Devil Rays, the rebranded Tampa Bay Rays have had winning records for the past three seasons.
